Caster Stem Size Finder
Match a measured stem to the common US replacement sizes: grip-ring stems for office chairs and furniture, and threaded stems for equipment.
Stem and socket casters are replaced by measurement, and the measurement has to be taken on the right part of the stem. Enter the stem type, the diameter, and the length, and the calculator identifies the standard size it matches and the thread pitch implied for a threaded stem.
Pitch is inferred from diameter, so a thread gauge is still the confirmation step, and the tool covers the four standard sizes only. Metric stems, unusual pitches, and OEM-specific stems are outside it.

Formula
Calculation logicWhat to check
- Measure the stem where it seats in the socket, not at a worn or burred end.
- Confirm thread pitch with a gauge rather than trusting the inferred value.
- Check the socket depth so the replacement stem is not bottoming out.
