Two-Caster Model Comparison

Put two caster models side by side against the same requirement, and score them on capacity margin, mounting-height fit, useful rather than wasted margin, and cost per pound carried.

Two casters can both be suitable and still be the wrong comparison, because a bigger capacity is not automatically better. Enter the requirement and the figures for each model, and the calculator scores capacity margin, mounting-height fit, how much of the margin is useful rather than wasted, and the cost per pound carried.

Equal scores are a real outcome and return a tie-break prompt rather than an arbitrary winner. The scores cover four criteria only; bearing type, brake availability, tread material, and mounting style are not scored and may matter more in your application.

Inputs

Requirement

Range: 20–40,000 lbf

Range: 1–30 in

Overall caster height with the top plate fitted. A caster taller than this will not fit the frame.

Which model scores better
Model A scores better on this requirement.
Fit
Only Model A fits the mounting height, so Model B is out on fit before capacity is considered.

What to check

  • Use prices for the same quantity and the same accessories on both models.
  • Check that a plate-to-stem difference is not being compared as though it were like for like.
  • Treat a capacity margin far above the requirement as wasted rather than better.

Related calculators

Compares exactly two models and scores only four criteria, so bearing type, brake availability, tread material, and mounting style are outside the comparison. It assumes both prices are for comparable quantities with the same accessories, and freight, lead time, and minimum order quantity are excluded. A price of zero is accepted, which suits a part already in stock.
