Caster Series Selector

Turn a per-wheel load, wheel diameter, environment, and duty cycle into a caster series recommendation, so a buyer knows which product family to open before comparing individual models.

Catalogue pages open with series families, not with individual part numbers, so the first decision is which family fits. Enter the load per wheel, the wheel diameter, the environment, and the duty cycle, and the calculator returns a series class with the reason it was chosen.

The series boundaries are round numbers, so a caster sitting exactly on one should be checked in both classes. Mounting type is not part of the recommendation, even though plate, stem, or expanding adapter often narrows the catalogue faster than the load class does.

Inputs

Load, size, and service

Range: 20–40,000 lb

Range: 1–20 in

Result

Duty series for this load
medium-duty series (formed or forged fork, 4 to 6 in wheels typical)
Series for this environment
general-purpose series with a polyurethane or rubber tread
Duty note
The duty cycle is within what a standard bearing and tread handle.
Diameter note
The wheel diameter is in the range that balances rolling ease against deck height.

What to check

  • Enter the per-wheel load after the uneven-floor allowance, not the total weight.
  • Describe the duty cycle over a working week rather than the busiest hour.
  • Check a boundary case in both adjacent series before choosing.

Related calculators

A screening guide, not a catalogue. The series names are generic families rather than brands, and actual availability differs by supplier. The class boundaries are round numbers, so a caster on a boundary should be checked in both, and mounting type is not considered even though it usually narrows the choice first.
