How Many Casters Do I Need?
Work backwards from the load and a caster's rated capacity to the minimum number of casters, then check the load each sharing wheel will carry.
Start with the loaded weight and the capacity printed on the caster you intend to buy. The calculator rounds the load up to whole casters, adds the uneven-floor allowance when it is on, and holds a minimum of three casters. The second result shows the load per sharing wheel at that final count, so you can see the margin left.
Adding casters spreads the load but does not fix bad geometry: on a cart with four casters, two should be swivel and two rigid, and the load still concentrates on three wheels when the floor is uneven. Use the result to size the hardware, not to substitute for a proper frame and corner design.

Calculation logicWhat to check
- Round the load-to-capacity ratio up before adding the uneven-floor allowance.
- Keep a floor of three casters for stability.
- Recompute the per-wheel load at the final count rather than the nominal rating.
